Ancient Egyptian Gods and Goddesses

Ancient Egypt was home to some of the most powerful gods and goddesses in the ancient world. The ancient Egyptians believed in many gods and goddesses who ruled over different aspects of their lives. From the sun god Ra to the goddess Isis, the ancient Egyptians worshipped a variety of deities. Ra – The Sun God

Ra was the ancient Egyptian Sun God. He was believed to have created himself from a lotus flower that emerged from the primordial waters. Ra was the most important of all the gods and goddesses and was the ruler of the sky, the earth and the underworld. He was also believed to have created all the other gods and goddesses from his tears. He was usually depicted with a falcon head and a sun disk on his head. Ra was worshipped by the ancient Egyptians as the god of the sun and of the universe.

Isis – The Goddess of Magic

Isis was the ancient Egyptian goddess of magic and fertility. She was believed to be the daughter of Geb (Earth) and Nut (Sky). Isis was the wife of Osiris and was believed to have the power to bring the dead back to life. She was usually depicted with a throne on her head. She was worshipped as a protector of the dead and as a goddess of fertility and motherhood.

Osiris – The God of the Underworld

Osiris was the ancient Egyptian god of the underworld. He was believed to be the son of Geb and Nut, and was the husband of Isis. Osiris was usually depicted as a mummified man with green skin and a crown on his head. He was worshipped as the god of the afterlife and the underworld. He was responsible for judging the souls of the dead and for guiding them to their afterlife.

Horus – The God of the Sky

Horus was the ancient Egyptian god of the sky. He was usually depicted as a falcon-headed man with a sun disk on his head. He was the son of Osiris and Isis and was believed to be the protector of the Pharaohs. Horus was worshipped as the god of the sky and the sun and was believed to have the power to protect the Pharaohs from harm.

Thoth was worshipped as the god of wisdom and knowledge and was believed to have the power to grant wisdom and knowledge to those who asked for it.
